Last of the Grapefruit Wars is a
collection of short stories done since my college years up to 2003. Hopefully
humorous, slightly off-kilter types of stories.
As of June 2004, I've sold...six copies. The sixth copy was actually bought
by someone! First true sale to a buying customer! There's no smiley icon to
display the big grin I've got on my face! UPDATE 2008:
there have been three additional confirmations of book purchases! I thank you
all!

your local book store! Up top is a link to
Goerings, official website of one of Gainesville's local book stores. They
have copies of my book for sale on their shelves. Please patronize the place!
:-)
Grapefruit Wars is also available online via Amazon.com and other book retail sites.
If you're not inclined to buy the book, at least please read it. You can go to the nearest library and request the title through what's known as InterLibrary Loan (ILL). Nearly every library is plugged into a network (OCLC) that allows requests to remote locations for book titles and photocopies of journal articles. Most library systems now have a way to let you request ILLs directly through an online database called WorldCat. If you have WorldCat, type in my last name in the Author search and one word from the title in the Keyword search, and you should get my lone entry as a result. The good news is that the local libraries - University of Florida, Alachua County Public, Palm Harbor, FL library, Broward County Library and Pasco County Library systems have cataloged copies to their shelves, and the great news is that someone's checked out the Alachua Co. and Palm Harbor copies every so often! :-) Thanks!
I have been suffering from writer's block the last four seven years,
trying to break it with the occasional novel attempt and starting this year
with renewing short story ideas. As best as I can tell you, when I get something
finished... something GOOD finished, I will let you know. In the meanwhile,
try glancing through the NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month contest) and
see if you can see the opening chapter of the last book idea I attempted (November
2007...there was a 2008 try as well which went about 8,000 words and died on
the vine...).
UPDATE 2009: I WON NANOWRIMO! The novel is still in the works, it's got a long ways to go, but 50,000 words is nothing to sneeze at (unless you're allergic to adverbs). This is a monumental step for me: actually getting this far with a book that's not completely sucking rhino (even in rough draft mode, which does get a bit sucky)! Once completed, I will post here about making it available (most likely a POD jobber, NaNo has an arrangement with somebody).
I've done a lot of work in fan fiction. The deal is, these are NOT official
writings, and Copyright rules are extremely strict about ownership of the
characters and storylines involved. The deal basically is, I DO NOT make
any money off of these stories: I don't sell 'em, and I don't take anything
for 'em. If the official owners of the Copyright (the writer, the publishers,
the television producer(s) and/or controlling network) want these stories removed
and barred from ever seeing the light of day ever again, then that's what happens.
Usually the Copyright controllers are okay about fanfic, they know that fans
love to express themselves in writings, and that if they go out of their way
to alienate the fans they'll lose the core audience that keeps them rolling
in the dough. Fans are okay about it, they're not interested in making money,
they're more interested in expressing their love for the canonical characters/storylines.
Just as long as the key rule is enforced and respected (Key Rule: Fanfic writers
DO NOT GET PAID) everyone's happy.
Gossamer sites (in case one is down try the other) | Fluky | Krycek | Personal site of Incredibly Short Fic |
The Gossamer sites work by searching Title, Author, or Genre Subject. Best thing is to go under the Author heading, and then go to where my last name (Wartenberg) will be indexed. The thing is, the indexing pages keep shifting around as new authors are added / old authors removed, so I can't forge a direct link, unless I am told the tricks for getting a sort of search capability set up for the links. Just look for where the WA's or the WAR's will end up and then you'll see the list of works there.
